Mary Liu was introduced to music when she began to learn to play the piano at eight years old. Her desire to benefit from the advanced music education in the U.S. led her to apply to schools outside of China. She was admitted by the University of Central Oklahoma as a piano performance
major, studying under the guidance of Dr. Chindarat Charoenwongse and had master classes with Dr. Valery Kuleshov. In 2014, her expressive and emotional interpretations won the OMTA competition in Oklahoma. Apart from having solo performances, she was also a member of the LOCh Trio, a clarinet, viola and piano trio. Throughout her college
studies she held a variety of jobs that have provided her with experiences interacting with her communities and teaching. She believes love is the ingredient of teaching. She has experience teaching children through a piano school where she provided individualized lessons tailored to meet the needs of the student. Her students also receive high scores from NYSSMA and ABRSM exams.
