Noam Borns

piano instructorNoam Borns
Noam Borns started off as a concert pianist before transitioning to jazz at the age of 15. By the time he was 18, he played as the opening act for Fernando Otero, a Grammy winning pianist. He graduated with the honor of Summa Cum Laude from the Berklee College of Music where he was awarded with a seventy-five percent scholarship. He has performed in clubs in Boston (Lilypad) and NYC (Wilson Live and Bar Bayeux). Besides being an active performer in the tri-states, he was also on tour in Europe between 2013-2016. Noam's teaching career started in 2016, and he has worked with private students from age four and up. As an experienced teacher, he has taught beginners to advanced students. In addition to private teaching, he has also directed student ensembles in the past. Noam can teach jazz music, classical music, pop/rock/soul repertoire, technique, ear training, harmony, theory, improvisation, and composing. His goal is to help his students fall in love with the music and the craft, so they can practice and learn about music from a place of enjoyment and love - while still teaching them all the proper technical and theoretical aspects. With more advanced students, he likes to treat the piano as an instrument of self- expression, group dynamics, listening, and more advanced concepts such as shape theory and advanced improvisation or classical pieces.
